Joe Kickbush
Director of Facility Operations
Joe Kickbush is the Director of Facilities, responsible for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and compliant environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors. He oversees preventive maintenance programs, facility operations, regulatory inspections, and compliance with agencies such as the fire department, health department, and The Joint Commission. His work also includes monitoring advanced building systems, energy management technologies, and other critical infrastructure that support day-to-day operations.
Joe’s healthcare career began at age 16 in a nursing home kitchen, where he steadily advanced into leadership roles before transitioning into facility maintenance. Combining hands-on mechanical expertise with a degree in economics, he spent 16 years as a Director of Environmental Services before seeking a new challenge in his current role. With more than 40 years of experience, he is especially skilled in survey readiness, regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong relationships with inspectors and accrediting organizations.
Known as a teacher and mentor, Joe enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others develop new skills. His leadership philosophy centers on doing things the right way, avoiding shortcuts, and understanding the “why” behind every task. He is motivated by continuous learning of new skills.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys golf, outdoor activities, sports, dirt bikes, ATVs, and racing. Colleagues often admire his patience and calmness during challenging situations, a mindset reflected in one of his favorite quotes from Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.”
