Tatyana Zharkova MD, PhD

Tatyana Zharkova, MD, PhD is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in geriatric psychiatry and adult mental health. She has nearly 20 years of clinical experience across neurology and psychiatry and provides thoughtful, evidence-based care for a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
Dr. Zharkova completed her psychiatry residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, a teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident. She graduated in 2019 and also holds a PhD in neuroscience. She earned her medical degree magna cum laude in 2006.
Her approach is trauma-informed and grounded in neuroscience, combining deep expertise in psychopharmacology with a dignified, individualized style of care. She prioritizes clarity, safety, and the thoughtful use of medications, including avoiding unnecessary polypharmacy whenever possible.
Dr. Zharkova is committed to destigmatized mental health care and to helping patients feel seen, respected, and supported in recovery.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys running, writing, and raising her two daughters, and is grateful to call Minnesota home.
